NWTC Digital Arts Showcase

Summary

Target Audience

There are multiple target audiences for the NWTC Digital Showcase event: current NWTC students and staff, potential employers, and the general community. I purposely picked blue and white for the deisgn because NWTC's colors are blue and white. Since this is an NWTC event, I wanted it to blend with NWTC's brand colors so that the audience understands that this is an NWTC event.

Message

The message of this website for the event is to provide the information someone would need to learn about and attend the event. The website gives the date, time, and location of the event on the home page and provides separate pages to learn more about each digital arts program. The website also provides a Google Map to assist the user with getting to the event and a Contact Us form if the user has additional questions.

Goal

The goal of the website is to convert users into event attendees. The design of the website supports this by providing separate pages dedicated to explaining the type of work web development, digital media, design & graphic technology, and photography students do so the user can learn more about the event. If the user is interested in attending the event after reading about one or more of the programs, the Home page provides the date, time, and location and the Contact Us page provides a Google Map to assist the user with getting to NWTC for the event.

CTAs

There are multiple CTAs on the home page. There are four large white cards with links to each digital arts program that are larger than the rest of the text on that page (with the exception of the heading) prompting the user to learn more about the digital arts programs. And, there is a CTA at the bottom of the Home page with a link to the Contact Us page. While the Contact Us page link is not in a large white card, I think this CTA is most likely to catch a user's eye because it is at the very bottom of the page and is underlined.

Design

I chose to have a hamburger menu layout for the entire website and a large full width hero image on the Home page because I think it gives the website a more modern and simple feel. The hamburger menu layout keeps the layout of the website consistent on mobile and desktop. I chose blue and white for the colors because they are NWTC's colors and I added a gradient to give it some variety. I used only one font style to also keep the design simple. The font family I chose is a sans-serif font called Inter. I chose this specific font because I wanted a similar font to Arial, but yet something that wasn't as common but that kept a crisp and modern feel.
